As an important element for formation of Chinese characters, the application ofcomponents in teaching Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL) and compilation of teachingmaterials for TCFL can help the beginners a lot in Chinese learning. With the constantdevelopment of TCFL, in recent years, primary materials for teaching Chinese characters arecontinuously published in large number for meeting the demand for setting up dependentcourse of TCFL. Based on the reviews and assessment on the research findings achieved andthe component problems found during the compilation of teaching materials for TCFL since1990s, this paper put forward that the research on components in the compilation of teachingmaterials for TCFL has not been systematic yet and is insufficient in both research depth andwidth. Therefore, taking the special Chinese textbook The Law of Chinese Characters(textbook and exercise book) as main object of study, this paper has made detail analysis anddissertation on the compilation of component knowledge, editing of components and thecomponent integrated characters and component exercise, and on this basis, the paper has putforward some views and opinions on the component problems in the compilation of teachingmaterials for TCFL.This paper mainly describes the research works in the following aspects:Chapter One elaborates the research background, research significance, scope of researchand research methods, makes reviews and assessment on the research and the componentproblems found during the compilation of teaching materials for TCFL, illustrates what isworthwhile to learn from the former research and further defines the meaning of this research.Chapter Two introduces the compilation of teaching materials for TCFL. The primarymaterials for teaching Chinese characters acceptable for dependent courses of Chinesecharacters published in large number are different in essence with the Chinese charactersattached to former integrated Chinese textbooks.Chapter Three and Chapter Four are the key chapters in this paper, making analysis onthe component compilation in the textbooks and exercise books by taking the special Chinesetextbook The Law of Chinese Characters as example;Chapter Three makes research on the component issues in the compilation of thetextbook The Law of Chinese Characters. Firstly, this paper briefly introduces thecompilation style of the textbook The Law of Chinese Characters and the exercise book, andmakes systematic investigation on the rationality of the arrangement mode of component+component systematic integration and the scientificalness of the arrangement of component and component systematic integration. In the term of the basic knowledge of the textbookcomponent, this paper makes a list statistics on the basic knowledge of components concernedin the textbook, analyzes the arrangement of the basic knowledge of textbook components anddiscusses the issues on the compilation of the concepts of components and radicals; theresearch on the arrangement of components and component systematic integration and thestatistical analysis on the base data of Chinese characters and components in the textbook TheLaw of Chinese Characters have primarily investigated whether the arrangement mode of“component+component integrated characters” is high-efficiency or reasonable. On this basis,this paper has rearranged the Chinese characters by the way of components and componentsystematic integration, aiming to investigate the scientificalness of the Chinese charactersarrangement in mode of textbook components and component systematic integration anddiscuss a more reasonable arrangement mode through the contrastive analysis between thearrangement results and former Chinese characters arrangement.Chapter Four focuses on the research on component exercise in the Exercise Book of theLaws of Chinese Characters. This paper discusses the significance of the exercises ofcomponents, explains the relevant statistical standards including the exercise amountstatistical standard and relevant exercise statistical standards, and then makes investigation onthis exercise book and component exercise in terms of exercise amount, types, contents andapplication of theory. In light of exercise amount, this chapter mainly investigates the densityof component-related exercises and the ladder form of exercise amount and discusses theissues on exercise amount and compilation of the textbook through related data statistics anddiagrams; in light of type and content, this chapter makes statistical distribution and difficultyclassification for the component-related exercises in the textbook; in light of application oftheory, relevant analysis on the application of studying theories in the component exercisesand contents of the textbook has been made.The last chapter summarizes the research findings of this paper and brings some ownopinions on the components in the compilation of the primary teaching materials of Chinesecharacters.
