Tang dynasty and Song dynasty have laid a great development in tang and songfigure painting and put them on the new height because of their economic and culturalprosperity in history. Tang and song figure painting have had a profound influence onlater generations and even today.This paper is based on painter Zhou Fang’s “XiYingTu”from Tang dynasty and LiSong’s “HuoLangTu”from Song dynasty. mainly concentrating on the comparison andstudy about painting techniques, form, genre, style, social effect and so on. Bydeconstructing the picture content through the era background, cultural factors,techniques, the perspective of theme, highly uniform of content and form, we cancomplete the research better.“XiYingTu” and “HuoLangTu” were produced in the Tang and Song dynasties. TheTang dynasty painter Zhou Fang was born in the nobles, so his art was famous for“precious and beauty” in the <Seed Marketing> as he was not only good at paintingnoble figures, but also the rogue beauties, which represented the style of “yee”in themost glorious age of Tang painting.So it is not hard to see his background and livingenvironment’s impact on his figure painting creation. While Song dynasty Li Songwas the foster son of academie Li Congxun, and the main historical themes of hisfigure paintings were all about ordinary people’s life, or to “36Songjiang heroes”.The creative attitudes of the two painters just reflect “art comeing from life”argumentin today’s life.Zhou Fang’s “XiYingTu”pictures the scene of ladies playing with young children inthe tang dynasty while Li Song’s “HuoLangTu” shows the noisy image of a peddlersurrounded by children and women in a village.“High culture” by dignitaries isunderstandable, but playing the “item” in DaSong palace, which had to be amazing.Both in the royal family, as well as representing the mainstream of the two dynasties’aesthetic, to clarify what it is that leads to the similarities and differences in the figurepainting of these two painters by comparing is the ultimate goal of this article.
