Dali Bai Benzhu Statues Cultural Change Research

The local deity worship is a peculiar folk religion of Dali bai minority area, whichdeveloped from the original religion. It has absorbed the Confucian culture, Taoist culture,buddhist culture into their religious system in the long history. It is a very special culturalphenomenon of religion. I’m interested in the part of the main carrier of the whole ritualprocess deities modeling.The local deity worship of god statues not only contains the characteristics of eachculture, but also its shape and cultural function change accordingly in the specific context.This paper give three local gods in different background, describing their art characteristic,distinguishing their decorating means in detail. Moreover, this paper will distinguish thedifference between the folk artists and sculpture artists, then discuss the interactionbetween villagers and the local deity shape, analysing the villagers how to regard thesame fairy tale of different statues of local deity worship gods. Finally, this paper will leadto the trend of cultural functions of local deity worship gods.
