With the through application of modern information technology in government work, government portal, as an important form of electronic government, has gained widespread attention and made remarkable progress throughout the world. The development of government portal in China has also made some progress. However, its influence in China is not satisfying, which, accordingly, has hindered the improvement of the administrative efficiency, the level of public services and the ability to communicate with the public.From the perspective of the relations between government portal and the public and by adopting the method of questionnaires, the author studies the influence of government gateway website on the public in China and points out its existing problems. Besides, the concept of network marketing is introduced and integrated with the study on the influence of government portal in China. It is hoped that with the guidance of e-marketing, the influence of government gateway website can be effectively improved in China.This thesis mainly consists of four partsIn the first part, beginning with the background and significance of government portal construction, the author introduces the present situation of government portal construction in China and makes a brief review of the research results and practical experience concerning the present government portal.In the second part, the concept of e-marketing and its related concepts are introduced. Its related theories are also elaborated and analyzed in this part.In the third part, the author analyzes the present situation of government portal construction in China and by adopting the method of questionnaires, the author points out its existing problems. Besides, the author analyzes the reasons for the inadequate influence of government portal in China.
