Cyber-populism-Origin, Spread And Elimination

Cyber-populism results from the formation and spread of the populist political thoughts in cyber space. Combining with radicalism of the New Left and the Liberal’s thoughts respectively, it makes two images of the China’s populism in the Internet age: with the aim to defend the socialist results and oppose the capitalism reform, the former mainly concerns about contradictions and problems in the process of China’s modernization; with the aim to promote western-style freedom, democracy, legal system and human rights, it advocates the transplant of western multi-political system to promote China’s transition to democracy rapidly. With the irrational expression of contradictions and problems in China’s transformation in an extreme speech system, the cyber-populism sharpens the conflicts between different classes and groups, trying to promote the formation of social movement through the combination with the masses event.Although the cyber-populism is not good for the moderating and dissolving of social contradictions and impact on social harmony construction and consensus formation, it contains the attention to the disadvantaged groups, and express demands of bottom class of the society, appearing again and again in the certain social transformation periods. So we should face up to the necessity of its existence and treat the social contradictions and conflicts as a warning device or political democratic state barometer. Dispelling the growth and spread of cyber-populism, the most fundamental method is to lose no time to cultivate the civil society in the process of institution innovation. On the one hand, we should gradually expand citizen politics participation orderly, clear channels for interest expression through the development of civil society to promote public self-learning process, with the aim to overcome the populist value and its way of thinking. On the other hand, by institution innovation and legal construction we can realize the public decision-making distribution justice, and guide the Internet political participation to a track of good development.
