Against the backdrop of an ever-growing Chinese e-commerce industry, brand newpurchasing modes are gaining increasingly amount of popularity among the generalpublic. However, as related laws and regulations still have room for improvement, thedisputes between the seller and the consumer have been commonplace and the violationof consumer’s right has been frequent. Through analyzing several cases of violation ofconsumer’s right and investigating into the breeding ground for such violations, thisthesis bring forth the idea that the main reason for the violation of consumer rightsduring on-line shopping is that the existing Consumer Protection Act neglects theuniqueness of the virtual society, and as a result, there is a lack of realistic and plausibleprotection measures. The virtual network naturally renders the consumers to a weakerposition; therefore, to protect the consumers’ legitimate rights and interests requires theequal status of the consumers to be protected institutionally. In this paper, a system forconsumer regrets right is proposed to safeguard the consumers’ rights and interests. Bygranting consumers with the regret rights, blind consumption brought about by thevirtual network can be counter. Through establishing and improving the third-partyon-line shopping platform, the online sellers’ action would be closely monitored and the several and joint liability shall guarantee the customer’s right be protected.
