In recent years, with the fast development of high education in China, most universities have been choosing the cheaper lands in the suburb as the new campus. Since the extension of university campus, the farmlands of farmers are largely occupied. Thus, farmers have less and less farmlands and only housing land. Consequently, a special regional community is formed between the university and the surrounding villages, which called the villages around the university in this paper. The land acquisition of university brings a series of changes to the villages. The extension of the university campus will exclude the villages’physical space, and then compress the living space. In the meantime, the villagers will lose their farmlands that they live by. Undauntedly, in the interior villages, there will be a lot of changes. However, the lost of farmlands will not end the development of the villages. In contrary, the villages are still alive and get a new opportunity to some extend. This paper focuses on the topic that how the villages around the university survive after losing their farmlands. In short, that means how the villages integrate themselves after losing their farmlands. This paper takes G village which is one of the neighboring villages of a university in Zhejiang Province for an example. From the perspective of community integration, the paper will discuss the issue that how the villages around the university integrate and keep developing and the difficulties they come across during the process of the integrating. The changes of villages result from the relocation and extension of universities, the construction of express way and the division of villages lay the foundation for the village integration. The paper will analyze the condition of the community integration of the villages around the university from four aspects:space integration, economic integration, social integration and psychological integration. As the basis of social integration, space integration includes building new houses (the villages build lots of new building in order to rent to the merchants to make money), the move in of businesses and the activities of students. Economic integration mainly talks about the collective economy, economy of building new houses, flow economy and the expansive economy from new village to old village. It also concludes that there is an intergrowth profit chain of economic integration among the villagers, merchants and students. Social integration will be elaborated from the aspects of social communication, public space and community service. And psychological integration will be expounded according to the collective economy and village management system’s influence on the integration of villages. On the basis of the analysis of four aspects on community integration, I probe into the difficulties of the villages around the university. For instance, the behavior of building new houses hinders the planning and management of villages and its further development. The economic chain of building new houses economy will not bring the substantial profit and development. Instead, it will make the village sink into the condition of involution, which means increasing without developing. What’s more, the crazy behavior of building new houses is not good for shaping the public space of villages. At the end of the paper, there will be some strategies to improve the community integration problems of the villages around the university. Here is the suggestion that the government, the village committee and the university should work together to build a nicer and better village. In addition, the villages around the university, which are the existed social fact, should be further studied in the future.
