The17th CPC National Congress put forward the task of popularizing Marxism. From then on, the academia conducted numerous related studies, gaining fruitfulresults. Nevertheless, there are few studies concerned about the transmission ofMarxism in China, especially that in the democratic revolution period, which calls forfuture research. Thus, strengthening the research on the transmission process ofMarxism in China in the democratic revolution period, identifying and grasping thelaws are inevitable requirements for the popularization of Marxism, having bothimportant theoretical and practical significance. The Chinese Communist Party holds high the Marxism flag and walks always inthe forefront of the times, leading the development of China. Marxism went intoChina in1899, and started to be accepted by Chinese advanced members under thecombined influence of the October Revolution and the May4th Movement, experiencing a vivid and tortuous transmitting process. It was then not only highlyrecognized and widely accepted but also firmly believed and positively practiced bythe Chinese people, gathering strength for Chinese revolution. Without any doubt, thebasis for the study is reviewing and clarifying the practicing process of thetransmission of Marxism in China in the democratic revolution period; theprerequisite for the study is having an accurate understanding of the socialbackground, class background and cultural background of that period. The key point of this research is to clarify the historical process of thetransmission of Marxism in China in the democratic revolution period, to summarizethe lessons and to gain some experience, providing some reference for thetransmission and popularization of Marxism today. This study first roughly butsystematically reviews the translation and transmission of Marxism in China. Andthen the practical transmitting processes of Marxism in before the October Revolution, the May4th period, the National Revolution period, the Agrarian Revolution periodand the Anti-Japanese War period are specifically and systematically analyzed. Theprocesses and characteristics are obviously summarized. The major task of the study is to reveal the historical experience of thetransmission of Marxism in China. The author tries to summarize the experience fromfive aspects. First, from the origin of the texts perspective, the translation andpublishing of classical works on Marxism are the basis for the CPC leaders tosummarize the practical experience of Chinese revolution. Second, from the shift ofcontext perspective, the ideal of Great Harmony, the People-oriented consciousness, and the national and family group standard in traditional Chinese culture interact withthe Marxism Theory, which establishes the basis; the critical inheritance of traditional Chinese culture gives Marxism more Chinese characteristics, transmitting in Chinawith a nationalized form, which is of crucial importance. Third, from the educationand propagation perspective, the basic route is the application of the multimedia as thecarrier, and the use of the rectification as the chance to improve the theoreticalproficiency of the whole party. Fourth, from the perspective of controversy anddetection of forgeries, debating with the anti-Marxism theories, clarifying the realMarxism and defending Marxism are the guarantees. Fifth, from the perspective ofpolicy guidelines, the combination of theoretical popularization and the practicalrevolution of anti-imperialism and anti-feudalism, the combination of the ideal andbelief in Marxism with the realization of benefits, are the internal motives for theautomatic recognition of Marxism by the public. The final stance of the study is the task of Marxism popularization in modernChina. The inquiry into the transmission process of Marxism in the democraticrevolution period: following its process, clarifying its route, summarizing theexperience, analyzing the lessons, grasping the laws are all for the purposes ofpromoting the popularization of Marxism today and strengthening the Party’s theoryarming work, providing theoretical guidelines for the construction of socialism withChinese characteristics under the new historical conditions.
