| In recent years, the farmer collective petition on the land emerges throughout thecountry. This study selects the L Village G County collective petition in NorthwestChina and analyses the impact of social capital on collective petition from threeaspects of interpersonal networks, reciprocity, and trusty.This paper replays the process of collective petitions by the field surveys andinterviews methods. Studies have shown that the horizontal network in the society ofacquaintances in the interpersonal networks help to mobilize the villagers toparticipate in a collective petition process, and the vertical network relationshipsfacilitate access to useful information; the "free-rider" psychological of villagersparticipating in a collective petition is a manifestation of reciprocity in social capital;the trust to the on behalf and distrust to the government from villagers will be inspiredin the process of collective petitions. The all three aspects of social capital haveinfluence on collective petition and also have a corresponding impact on the logic ofaction in the rural areas. Fostering the farmers’ social capital actively is becoming aneffective path to alleviate social contradictions and promote the harmoniousdevelopment of society. |
