A Study On The Mechanism Of Peasants’ Political Protest From The Perspective Of Social Capital

Collective petition is a unique social phenomenon in China.because the farmers’interests are violated,the weak part of the farmers will choose to fight in the form of collective petitions,collective appeal is a kind of struggle and political,.In recent years,there have been some collective petitions of farmers in China.The country is prosperous if the farmers are rich,and the social environment is stable if the countryside is stable.Collective petitioning incidents of farmers shake the stability of rural society in China and affect the farmers’ recognition of the grass-roots government.From the perspective of social capital,it is of great practical significance to observe how farmers make collective petition and to conduct in-depth research on the occurrence mechanism of farmers’ political protest,to maintain the stability and development of China’s rural society and prevent the occurrence of larger social conflicts.The author selected Yangwan village,Baoan town,Ye county,Henan province as a case study.The village is a typical migrant village,which was relocated to three new villages due to the Yunshan reservoir project.After the completion of the relocation work,two groups of villagers carried out political protest through collective petition due to the problem that the township government paid less subsidies.This is also the research object of this paper.Then,why do the disadvantaged farmers choose the way of collective petition for political protest,and what is the mechanism of it?Through oral interviews,this paper collects a lot of materials about the collective petition cases of Yangwan village,and studies the cases from the perspective of social capital.The author finds that trust is the inner emotional power for the collective petition.The disappointment of the two groups of villagers to the grass-roots government and the village committee,and the trust to the leaders and representative groups of the petitioners lay the emotional foundation for the collective petition.Reciprocity is the standard guarantee to promote the collective petition.The value recognition of village society,the code of conduct of mutual benefit and the binding force of human morality guarantee the smooth development of collective petition.Guanxi(relation network)is the impetus for collective petitioning.The two groups of villagers inquire for news and collect evidence through the horizontal and vertical relation networks,and promote the occurrence of collective petitioning through the strengthening of the internal relation network,which makes it imperative to carry out political resistance through collective petitioning.This paper holds that the three elements of trust,reciprocity and relationship network exist at the same time,are interrelated,and promote each other.Trust is the emotional foundation of collective petition,mutual benefit is the standard guarantee of collective petition,and relationship network is the impetus of collective petition.
