Study On Cultural Life In Rural Area Of Vietnam Thaibinh Province

The Thesis on "Research on cultural life in rural area in Thai Binh province in Vietnam" has been written in the context of industrialization and modernization and rural renovation in Thai Binh province in particular and in Vietnam in general. These processes have opened up opportunities but also posed challenges to all aspects of the social life of farmers in rural area. This could raise doubts about the society’s security and development. Since culture is of importance to socio-economic development, promoting the people’s cultural life is necessary. This would provide them with spiritual motivation for coping with negative impacts of industrialization and modernization, and ultimately contributing to social security in rural area in Thai Binh province.The Thesis does not cover all elements of culture and cultural life. It just focuses on the most fundamental elements of cultural life in villages (i.e. under the commune level) in rural area in Thai Binh province. The Thesis’s major research methodology includes analyzing and synthesizing historical data; comparing indicators and statistics; analyzing information in the relevant documents, reports and master plans of Cultural Authorities in the province; and developing a sociology questionnaire for a survey to collect necessary information about the cultural life in rural area in Thai Binh province.The Thesis aims to give a picture of cultural mechanisms and cultural stereotypes of the farmers in the province. It has found that the basic values of the traditional culture of the country are still maintained in the area. At the same time, many new cultural elements have been emerging, which have contributed to certain changes in the rural area in Thai Binh province.Based on the current situation of the cultural life in rural area in Thai Binh province, the Thesis has discovered factors determining the present cultural life in the province. This is a new point in comparison to other researches. The factors include geographical condition; the residents; socio-economic development situation; characteristics of villages, family lineages and households; negative impacts of industrialization and modernization on urbanization, employment, labour migration, social classification, poverty reduction, implementation of democracy in the grassroots, rural renovation, cultural management, and so on. In order to minimize the negative impacts and promote positive impacts to improve the cultural life in Thai Binh province, the Thesis has provided the following recommendations:1.Economic development and social development at the same time;2.Development of cultural life basing on the needs of each village and commune;3.Promotion of self management capacity of the farmers;4. Improvement of cultural structures in each locality;5.Promotion of solidarity among the people to build up a cultural life in their residential areas; 6.Enhancement of leadership and management effectiveness of the government at all levels.Despite a lot of efforts to write this Thesis, there are inevitably certain limitations. However, the Thesis is not only a piece of study work to evaluate the student’s study process in the Master’s Program of Social Management, but also has opened up a new research direction in social management of culture in rural areas. The Thesis thus serves as an input for Thai Binh authorities to promote cultural life in the rural area, maintain social security and implement successfully industrialization, modernization and rural renovation in the province in the coming time.
