An Analysis Of The Reasons Why Ancient China Sent Troops To Vietnam

China and Vietnam are neighbors linked by mountains and rivers and both peoples enjoy a profound traditional friendship.The two countries exchanged a lot for more than two thousand years.In ancient times,the two countries had witnessed the period of enfeoffment,the period of country and the period of suzerain-vassal because of the geographical factor and the realistic factor.The wars between ancient China and ancient Vietnam mainly occurs in the period of country and the period of suzerain-vassal.According to the reasons we use to dispatch troops to ancient Vietnam,the wars can be divided into four types: set up and maintain the system of prefectures and countries,carry out the suzerain obligation,fight against Vietnam and three wars between the yuan dynasty and the ancient Vietnam.The wars,characterized by defensive,limitation and justice,have not had the nature of invading according to these four types.These characteristics are included in the Chinese strategic culture.The strategic culture was not emerge overnight,but rooted in the closing of Chinese geography,the sedentary farming civilization and the the harmony thinking in Confucian culture.After the founding of new China,we discard their dross and select their essence to form a new strategic culture.the five principles of peaceful coexistence and the military strategy of active defense are the best examples.As the increasing of globalization,the idea of a community of shared future formed.It inherits the traditional Chinese strategic and enlightens the partnership of both China and Vietnam.
