With the rapid development of economy and continuing enhancement of technology, the increasing public demand for public services raises constantly day by day. The public service mode innovation causes widespread concern around the world and becomes a hot topic of modern public administration in information age. With the continuous application of the new technology of the Internet, social media goes into human life and provides an opportunity for the public service mode innovation with its participation, openness, communication and conversation. Public service delivery in social media era is a combination of concept, application and technology. The application of social media can solve the problem of flatness, decentralization and personalization of public service, and enhance the quality of public services.Conform to the trend of public service reform and innovation, the thesis explores the way for public service mode innovation through social media according to the characteristics of the status quo of our public services and social media under the guidance of the scientific concept of development. The main content of this thesis is as follows:Part Ⅰ, introduction. The research ideas, methods, content and possible innovations are introduced based on the introduction of research background, significance and literature review.Part Ⅱ, related concepts and theoretical basis of public service and social media. Theoretical issues of social media and e-government related to public service are introduced after defining the concepts of public service, public service mode and social media. And practical significance of social media applied to public services is elaborated.Part Ⅲ, the applications and implications of social media in foreign public services. The abroad application of social media in the public service is examined by case study. The domain, way, effect of the application of social media are analyzed. The revelation of foreign social media applications in public service is summarized.Part Ⅳ, the exploration and possible trend of application of social media in public service in China. Based on the overview of application of social media in government, the application of social media in public service is analyzed through typical cases.Part Ⅴ, establishment of innovative public service mode in social media era. The goal of public service mode innovation in social media era is proposed. The concrete realization ways to public service mode innovation in social media era are explored according to the characteristics of social media.Part Ⅵ, conclusion. The thesis is summarized and further research is forecasted.The possible innovation of the thesis is as follows:ⅰ) Innovation in perspective. Putting the innovative research of public service mode into the background of social media era, the thesis explores the ways to public service mode innovation based on the platform of new media of Internet. ⅱ) Innovation in content. Using social media to reform public service mode is a kind of innovation itself. The systematic exploration of this new kind of mode is the concrete manifestation of content innovation in the thesis.
