Rousseau’s Publicness Thought And Its Contemporary Significance

Marketization, globalization, social transformation is the background of the age we live. In this context, the crisis of publicness appears constantly. To resolve it this depends on the research of publicness. The rise of public discourse also reflects the academic response to the time problem. Based on the highlighted of publicness issues at the present times as the background, we focus on the study of Rousseau’s publicness thought and its contemporary significance.This article is divided into four parts:The first part is introduction, the introduction mainly introduced the selected topic background, research significance of this selected topic, statement of the research status at home and abroad, and the paper adopted the research methods and the train of thought. The second part is the theoretical source of the publicness research. Firstly, expounded the domestic and foreign scholars on the definition of "publicness", which set the connotation of the concept of "publicness" in this thesis. Secondly on the basis of the above, the theoretical source of Rousseau’s publicness thought come from the political thought in ancient Greece, republicanism thought in ancient Rome and modern contract theory. The third part is the main content is Rousseau’s publicness thought, respectively from three aspects discusses the public thought of Rousseau which is the individual publicness, social publicness, the government publicness. In individual publicness level, the public spirit inherently implicates in the connotation of publicness, the theory of publicness attaches great importance to the individual comprehensive and free development, the first part of the third chapter mainly tells the public spirits. The second part of the third chapter probes into the problems of social publicness level, in Rousseau’s thoughts, the thought of public will embodied the connotation of social publicness, which can be launched from four aspects, First is from the formation process of public will, public will make selfish personal and altruism to harmonious coexistence into a whole. Second is that obey the general will mean that individual freedom in society, the emergence of the public will make the freedom of individual come true. Three is that in order to guarantee the impartiality of the publicness will, publicness will always care for both personal interest and public advantages. Four is about the relationship between unwritten law and general will. At the government publicness level, which mainly expounds the embodiment of government publicity, and in order to make its implementation and a scries of measures must be taken. The fourth part mainly tells the meaning of Rousseau’s publicness thought.The innovation of this paper is shown as:the study of Rousseau’s people is a lot, as for the research of publicness is fewer, Rousseau’s public idea has neglected, whatever in monographs, periodicals or master’s thesis.
