Study Of The Housing Security Issues Of Migrant Workers In Chengdu

Migrant workers are an important driving force of China’s economic and social development, especially since the reform and opening--up policy to relax the restrictions on rural labor migration, a large number of migrant workers flock into the cities, to promote rapid urbanization and modernization of the cities. However, migrant workers make a significant contribution, at the same time, they suffer unequal treatments in the cites, failing to share the results of economic development. They are in a weak position in access to education, health care, employment, housing and other resources, especially in housing, the basic living conditions; they are subject to unfair treatment.Study of the housing security of migrant workers in Chengdu, mainly lies in perfecting housing security system of the migrant workers, and promotes the free flow of rural surplus labor to resolve worries of migrant workers and provide the basis for the implementation of relevant government policies. In this paper, the questionnaire takes a simple random sample survey methodology, with a more detailed and in-depth investigation and analysis research of the housing source, living pattern, living conditions and environment, housing expenditures as well as many other factors affecting their housing of migrant workers in Chengdu Through EXCELL data statistical analysis, this paper obtains the following results: first, the lack of housing security system for migrant workers; second, few sources of migrant workers housing; third, migrant workers housing market is not standardized; four, generally extremely poor living conditions of migrant workers. The cause of the problems is multifaceted, which can be grouped into four aspects of government, enterprise, society and migrant workers. To solve the problem of housing security of migrant workers, this paper argues that firstly people should follow certain principles, including the principle of fairness, collaboration, humanism, step by step in line and so on. In the framework of the principles, people make policies and take measures to effectively solve the housing security of migrant workers, such as improving migrant workers housing security system, standardize their housing markets, expanding its housing sources and improving its quality.
