With the socialist market economy developing rapidly in our country, people’s livingstandard has been elevated. The problem of food and clothing has turned into history.Consequently, living quality has being changed into a focus to which people have been payingmore attention. However while people are rejoicing for having got rid of the problem of foodand clothing, variety of food safety issues appear ceaselessly that bring people infinite worry.Those cases of food safety accidents which have been exposed by media continually frightenpeople very much. The food safety problems have been destroying our socialist marketeconomic order and impacting the moral bottom line of our traditional business. Obviously,there are more deep-seated problems hide behind the food safety issues. The most obvious isthe defect that exists in our nation’s regulation towards food market. There are lots of fields inwhich we are supposed to do some effective things either in the aspect of legislation or lawenforcement. If we cannot treat the matter timely, effectively and scientifically, the happy liveswe are pursuing will become only a dream forever.Using relevant theories of economic law and the method of case analysis, this thesis hasprovided a detailed analysis of the present situation of legal regulation in the aspects of foodsafety in China. And it briefly introduced the achievements and experiences of the legalregulation of food safety supervision in some western developed countries. Aiming at someexposed defects of China’s current practice of legal regulation in the field of food safety, theauthor puts forward some constructive suggestions.
