According to the result of the second national sample survey about the disabledpeople in2006, there are more than83million people who are physically handicappedaccounted for6.34%of the total population, behind which related to about one-fifth ofthe families of our country. It is very important to solve the problems of the disabledpeople, not only for themselves and their families, but also for the whole society.To settle the problems about employment of the handicapped persons can beconsidered as the source to solve all the problems of the people with disabilities. Theright of employment is the most fundamental and the most significant right for them. Topromote the work of them is the most solid foundation for their basic life. Besides, toimprove the employment is the most effective way for them to return to our society andto share the results of the social development. The realization of the right to employmentfor them is the key to realize their value of life. It can promote the images of them andcan be the best way to set up their self-confidence as well. What’s more, the work of thedisabled persons will not only increase the happiness of their families, but also couldcontribute to the harmony of our society and the construction of the well-being of ourcountry.The development program in the12thFive-Years for the career development ofdisabled persons in China refer to that: We must promote the policies and measures toimprove and protect the employment of the people with disabilities, stabilize and expandthe job of them, improve the quality of their employment, encourage the entrepreneurshipof them. We have a target of increasing one million new employees disabled. Besides, wealso need to specify the service system of the employment so as to assure that thedisabled people who need to work can receive the service and the vocational skillstraining. In this situation, it has a great significance to promote the employment ofhandicapped people in China.On the basis of having read plenty of literature anddocuments, this thesis has analyzed the current situation and the problems of theemployment of China, and has analyzed the factors affecting this through the method of questionnaire as well. Learning from the advanced experiences of foreign countries,my thesis has put forward some suggestions to promote the employment of thehandicapped persons from the different aspects as follows: the implementation of thelaw on the protection of people with disabilities, paying attention to the public opinions,eliminating social discrimination, increasing the support, using the power of theexemplary role of the government, the promotion of inclusive learning, improving thepsychological and cultural qualities of them, strengthening the recovery of them, thecomprehensive promotion of the accessibility to the facilities specially for them,enhancing the public awareness of accessibility specially for the disabled persons,increasing vocational training, enriching the channels for employment by emphasizing onthe power of community service. I hope that all the suggestions above could provide atheoretical foundation for the formulation of government policies.
