The rapid development of Chinese society and the in-depth reform carried out inuniversity system bring more opportunities and job stress to university teachers. Job stresscan change teachers’psychology, physiology, occupational attitude and further influencejob performance. The research aims to understand the actuality and dimensions ofuniversity teachers’stress, make more clear the relationship between job stress and jobperformance, provide workable policy proposals about how to manage job stress andimprove job performance in order to promote the sustainable development of highereducation.First, this study described the theory about job stress and job performance, on thebasis of which the concept of university teachers’job stress and job performance wasdefined, and then explained the different conclusions on the study field of the relationshipbetween job stress and job performance.Second, research hypotheses were put forward based on the literature research.Questionnaire which included personal basic information, job stress items, jobperformance items was designed by reviewing systemically the theoretical researchachievement and interviewing university teachers. And then item analysis, factor analysis,reliability test were made. The paper used factor analysis and found job stress was madeup of 5 dimensions, job performance was composed of 3 dimensions: teachingperformance scientific researching performance and contextual performance.Again, the paper analysed the correlation between job stress and job performance. Itverifies the negative correlation between job stress and job performance. There is positivecorrelation between“role expecting stress”and job performance, so“role expectingstress”can be called good stress. There is the negative correlation between“organizationalcontrolling stress”,“performance assessment stress”,“career development stress”,“interpersonal conflict stress”and job performance. so these dimensions of job stressshould be called bad stress. It also points out that individual statistical variables exitdifferent influence on job stress, job performance ,and the correlation between job stressand job performance is different as individual statistical variables change.Finally, on the basis of the empirical analysis above and theory, strategies were put forward about how to solve job stress problem and improve job performance ,aim to bothkeep university teachers healthy and job performance maximization...
