With the development of socialist market economy the innovation-orientedcountry has higher requirements for the skill talent, the community need highervocational college to train a large number of highly skilled personnel who will engagein the field such as production, construction, management, service, and the highervocational college students will play an important role in the future society. Whilethe" National long-term educational reform and development plan"(2010-2020)has been enacted, the development of higher vocational education is paid furtherattention and the Party and the nation propose higher requirements and expectation.However, in recent years the employment situation for college graduates is becomingmore and more serious. Compared with the undergraduate or higher degree students,the higher vocational college students have some disadvantageous factors such aslower degree. So they are not only impacted by the difficult employment environment,but also the employment situation is becoming severer for them in the fierceemployment competition market. Therefore in order to improve the vocational collegestudents’ employment situation, the higher vocational colleges must try to enhance thestudents’ employment competitiveness fundamentally to adapt to the social need forhigh-quality and high-skilled talent. In this paper based on the previous researchresults the pedagogy basic theory, competency model and the system engineeringtheory of management is studied. On the basis of the practice and investigation thisthesis summarizes and analyses the employment characteristic of vocational collegegraduates in Shaanxi Province, and compare it with the employer’s talent demand. Then from three aspects of the nation, colleges and students the suggestion and thecountermeasure are made for improving Vocational College Students’ employmentcompetitiveness, what’s more, the colleges’ training mode are discussed in the paper.This paper mainly adopts the methods of literature research, questionnairesurvey, interview, comparative analysis and other methods. This thesis is divided intofour parts. The first part summarizes the research status domestic and abroad aboutthe vocational college students’ employment competitiveness. The second one reviewsthe relevant theory of the vocational college students’ employment competitiveness. Inthe third part, the sampling questionnaire survey and interview are carried outrespectively through investigating the graduates and career instructors in five highervocational colleges, and then the current vocational college students’ employmentcompetitiveness is revealed. Compare with the employer’s talent standard comparison,superiority and disadvantage of the higher vocational students is summarized. Thefourth part proposes relevant suggestions and countermeasures from national, college,individual aspects in order to improve the students’ employment competitiveness. Theobjective of this research is that one side the pertinence and actual effect of careerguidance will be enhanced, and on the other side the higher vocational collegestudents are positive to plan their own occupational career their occupational abilitywill be improved. In this case they will successfully adapt to society to becomequalified personnel the community needs, and their occupational career developmentlaid a good foundation.
