In recent years, the scale of female graduate students is becoming larger and larger in our countryand their marriage problems have also been widespread concerned by the community. The process offemale graduate students’knowledge acquisition does not allow them to occupy the advantages of loveand marriage.on the contrary,they become the ‘vulnerable groups’ who are unable to convert their higheducation into the favorable social capital.The paper takes the city of Nanjing as research area, uses two analysis dimensions-the concept oflove and the concept of marriage and family, undertakes a large number of case interviews on femalegraduate students of this city’s universities, explores the characteristics of their concept of marriage andlove. The concept of love describes and analyzes from several specific indicators-the motivation oflove, mate choice’means and standard. The concept of marriage and family explores from severalspecific indicators,too-the view of career and family, the concept of sex, fertility preferences. Theinterview survey results show that, compared with the general female population, female graduatestudents pay more attention to marriage objects’ inherent quality of self-cultivation,ability and personaldevelopment prospect; and compared to the same group of male graduate students,female graduatestudents keep their sexual concept with the mainstream social values basically consistent. Tn the"liberation " tide,they show independent thinking and rational attitude; relative to their own in theundergraduate stage when motivation of love is not stable and free, female graduate students’ purposeof love is clear and pragmatic at this stage,they basically connect love and marriage; compared withfemale graduate students who were born before1980,those who were born after1980have moreavant-garde thought and high tolerance on non mainstream concept and form of marriage.Research shows that, in the context of social transformation, a variety of complex elements shapefemale graduate students’ marriage concept. As a rational being, female graduate students follow thesocial market rationality hypothesis, make marriage behavior obey the rational choice, expect to obtainthe biggest" marriage reward"; modern city’s heterogeneity and mobility have changed the originalrelationship between the pattern of different sequence;individual" weak ties" makes social norms onmarriage behavior of female graduate students decreased binding;modern medias on female graduatestudents’image are selectively highlight and shadow,this makes public exist understanding deviation onfemale graduate students’ concept of marriage,and also affects the structure of female postgraduates’ positive marriage notion; in the process of gender role socialization, a variety of cultural elementsmake the female graduate students’ traditional marriage concept diversified; finally, social expectationsinfluence character by environment and actual contrast also have an important impact on femalegraduate students’ concept of marriage.
