With the Knowledge Economy Age coming, education has become the foundation to build acountry. As the main aspect in education, the basic education affects people’s ability and quality alot. Headteacher plays an important role in running schools and improving schools’ efficiency.Headteachers professionalization promotes the basic education. It has been more than10yearssince “Millions-of-Headmaster-Training Plan” was firstly referred in Chinese policy in1993.Though the content of headteachers’ training institution in our country is improving gradually thesepast years, the efficiency is below expectation. What’s the matter with Chinese headteachers’training? Aimed at this question, this essay tries to analyze the Britain headteachers’ cultivatingsystem in general so as to get some inspiration.Through analyzing the relative literature, firstly this paper tells the differences between twoconcepts which are headteachers’ training and headteachers’ cultivation. The systematicheadteachers’ cultivating system connecting each training project closely attaches more importanceto the process of headteachers’ development. It is the main part of this paper.Firstly, this paper gives a brief view of the historical thread of Britain headteachers’cultivating system, dividing it into three periods with National Professional Qualification forHeadship (NPQH) and National College for School Leadership (NCSL) as its two division points.Secondly, based on some relative theories, this paper illustrates the Britain headteachers’cultivating system in detail from two aspects, which are the policy text and the cultivating process.Thirdly, this paper analyses some factors for its own formation and efficient operation, and helps toimprove headteachers’ cultivating system in our country from the internal and external factors.This paper concludes that the system in our country should be guaranteed on state side, withsupervision, valuation and funds to be implemented. Meanwhile, it should be strengthened on theinternal side, focusing on its standardization, continuity and systematicness. What’s more, otherfactors that influence the result of cultivating system include the practicality, flexibility andpersonality of training contents and patterns, and the trust between trainers and trainees.
