Hidden curriculum exerts a subtle influence on students’ psychological character.The Teacher-student relationship is an important intent of hidden curriculum. TheTeacher and students are the most active part in the process of teaching. TheTeacher-student relationship in teaching is the most essential and the most importantrelationship among people in teaching procedure, which has quite importanteducational function. And the communication between the teacher and students is themost important precondition during the course of teaching.By using the method of quantitative analysis combining with qualitative analysis,the writer does the research. The writer expects to create the best environment ofEnglish teaching to high school students by the way of coordinating and optimizingthe manifest curriculum and hidden curriculum; therefore, the quality of Englishteaching to high school students can be raised quickly.Firstly, the writer presents the theory of teacher-student relationship and the theoryof hidden curriculum and reviews the research results of the relationship between theteacher and students from the view of hidden curriculum. And then the writer pointsout that the researchers have not paid more attention to the research of theteacher-student relationship as important hidden curriculum in English education tohigh school students at present. But English language teaching and learning arecarried out in the affective communication between the teacher and students. Therelationship between the teacher and students plays an important role in Englishteaching to high school students.Then, the writer investigates the teacher-student relationship among high schoolstudents’ learning English as a foreign language. The results indicate that in theprocess of English teaching to high school students, it is a common phenomenon that the teachers pay more attention to the manifest curriculum, but they ignore the hiddencurriculum; the teachers pay more attention to the class teaching, but they ignoreafter-class teaching; the teachers put emphasis on the knowledge of English language,but they ignore the affective exchange with students. Student’s sensibility to theteacher influence is directly related to whether or not the student likes the course, andthe evaluation of the study. The Teacher-student relationship correlates significantlywith the desire of teacher’s help, correlates significantly with the student’s attitudetowards teacher’s academic seeking help, and correlates significantly with thestudent’s English classroom anxiety.Next, through the qualitative analysis, the writer expounds that the value ofteacher-student relationship as hidden curriculum in English teaching as a foreignlanguage in high schools, and then the writer proposes some methods of how to makeharmonious and democratic teacher-student relationship.
