| Hidden curriculum is an important part in the whole curriculum system, it is a special kind of curriculum that is different from explicit curriculum. Although it is implicit and can not be seen easily by people, it really has a great impact on emotion, values, attitudes, motivation, belief of students in their learning. Hidden curriculum can be found everywhere in the field of education, sometimes it is hidden, sometimes it is partly hidden and partly visible. In recent years, more and more people have found that the influence of hidden curriculum is better than that of explicit curriculum in some respects, such as the aspects of morality, outlook on life, values and so on.The influence of hidden curriculum in English teaching also is very obvious. With the implementation of New Curriculum Standard, hidden curriculum is playing a more important role in English teaching than before. The curriculum objective of New Curriculum Standard lays stress on combination of knowledge and skills, process and methods, emotional attitude and values. In the meanwhile, it attaches importance to the reflection of its basic role, epoch character, practicality and comprehensive. During the process of achieving the target of New Curriculum Standard, hidden curriculum plays a same role with explicit curriculum. As long as people combine hidden curriculum with explicit curriculum, the integrated level of teaching, teachers and students in middle school English teaching will be improved in the future.This thesis mainly uses the methods of documentation, questionnaire survey, random interview, case study and mathematical statistics to analyze some problems related to hidden curriculum existing in reality in middle school English teaching in Shangluo region. The paper firstly puts forward some problems existing in reality during the process of development of hidden curriculum, then it introduces the present condition of research related to hidden curriculum at home and abroad. The next part is the introduction of the concept, character, content and function of hidden curriculum. The key part of this paper is the fourth part. In this part, present condition of hidden curriculum in middle school English teaching in Shangluo region, cognitive condition of teachers and students about hidden curriculum in middle schools in Shangluo region, factors that effect the development of hidden curriculum, the function of teachers in the implementation of hidden curriculum, the comparison between key middle schools and general middle schools and the comparison between junior high schools and senior high schools in Shangluo region all are researched and analyzed. In the meanwhile, there are some suggestions for the condition. The purpose of this paper is to find more problems related to the development of hidden curriculum, provide some advisable theoretical reference for the development of hidden curriculum in Shangluo region, promote the progress of teaching reform of English curriculum in middle schools of the whole region and improve the overall level of this region. |
