Along with the rapid development of social information, information technology, as one of the required courses in senior middle school of Haidian district, plays a pivotal role in the improvement of national information literacy. In consideration of the current situation of students’ different levels of information technology and the restriction of classroom teaching, stratified teaching provides us with great hope. Therefore, it is an urgent task for every information technology teacher to fully understand the current situation of stratified teaching in Haidian district and find the suitable implementation methods of stratified teaching for senior middle schools in our district.From the common problems of information technology teaching in senior middle school, this study drew forth the necessity of the stratified teaching. After combing the development history and theoretical basis of stratified teaching through extensive literature research and summarizing the results of previous researches, the author put forward the thoughts and research methods of this study. With the instruments of questionnaire and interview, this study was designed to know the current situation of stratified teaching of information technology in senior middle school of our district from three dimensions of understanding, implementation and reflection.Through detailed statistical analysis on the questionnaire results, the author found that most teachers in our district supported the use of stratified teaching in the classroom of information technology in senior middle school:in the understanding dimension, most teachers were armed with enough knowledge of stratified teaching; in the implementation dimension, I provided practical experiences worthy of reference and generalization, including some drawbacks; in the reflection dimension, I also came up with questions which urgently await to be solved and suggestions for further study and applications. Therefore, the teaching effects of stratified teaching in our district could be improved and thus further advance the quality of education in our district.
