Our society is becoming an information society, in which information and communicative technologies (ICT) have a great impact on society and education. Information is the trend of the world, and the tendency of social development. The level of information comes to be the judgment of a country’s modernization and national power. Education Informatization is a process, whose final goal is to make education modernization. The key point of education information is on how to integrate the information into education properly. With the wide application of the multimedia technology, with the universal implementation of quality education, it is a trend to use information techniques in English teaching to improve teaching efficiency and teaching quality, what’s more, it can meet the needs of the students of different levels.Nowadays, it’s well accepted that it can improve the efficiency of teaching by integrating the Multimedia Technology into ELT. More and more teachers from universities, middle schools and primary schools have done abundant research on this and they are trying to properly use the Multimedia Technology into the curriculum for English as a foreign language. However, little research has been conducted in secondary vocational schools (SVS). Students of SVS vary in their English learning levels, while the traditional teaching mode in which the teachers are the centers of the class makes the students lack confidence, initiative and enthusiasm, and this causes unsatisfactory teaching effects. This research is guided by plentiful teaching theories, for example, the constructivist theory, the minimum limit theory, the social learning theory, etc. Considering the characteristics of the students and the teaching aims in SVS, the author tries to integrate the Multimedia Technology into the English teaching, and find the proper teaching and learning mode, that is, task-oriented teaching mode, teacher-guided and student-centered learning mode. According to the teaching aims of each unit in the text books of SVS, the author use Multimedia Technology into reading, listening and speaking to make the English lesson become a process of game in which we can see lots of interaction among teachers and students. The students can learn through playing and finishing tasks under the help of Multimedia Technology. The research was conducted in two classes majored in computer science in Beijing Commerce and Technology School, an SVS. The two classes are equivalent groups, one of which was taken as experimental group and assigned to be taught in the new teaching mode by integrating Multimedia Technology into ELT, while the other class was the controlled group and assigned to be taught in the traditional teaching mode. In this research, two questionnaires, two tests and a subsequent interview was conducted to collect data, which were analyzed through the software SPSS17.0later. The result of the research indicates that integrating Multimedia Technology into ELT in SVS can improve the teaching efficiency by building up the students’confidence, stimulating their interests and initiative. The students would actively conduct their individualized and collaborative learning. In addition, such issues are also discussed as the changing of roles of the teachers and the students, and the ways of the students’activities. Finally, the author puts forward some problems to be solved and gives some suggestions for further research.
