The relationship between teachers and students is an ancient and realistic topic, and also a new topic whenever talked.It has always been highly concerned by the higher education scholars. In the background of constructing a harmonious society, to enhance the satisfaction for college teacher-student relationship has become the common focus to higher education theorists and practitioners. However, the value orientation of utilitarianism in the market economy and pragmatism of higher education makes today’s college teacher-student relationship to lack of humanities color and lead the college teachers and students to get lost in the shared spiritual homeland.Therefore,improving the satisfaction for college teacher-student relationship can help to correct the deviation on the value orientation of higher education in China for a long time.Monitoring the harmonious degree on college teacher-student relationship through evaluating the satisfaction for college teacher-student relationship is far-reaching significance to calmly deal with the challenges for the popularization, marketization and internationalization of higher education.In this paper, the author discusses the satisfaction for college teacher-student relationship with a method of combining the theoretical speculation and empirical analysis,according to the research idea of "investigation on current situation-the historical review-international comparison-countermeasures".Six colleges and universities in Jiangxi Province,Shandong Province and Hunan Province are taken for examples. Through the investigation the author found that the satisfaction for relationship between teachers and students is low, both because of objective factors and subjective reasons:Teachers mainly displays on the old concept of educational thought in teaching activities;severely affected by the traditional teachers and students view;the professional knowledge, skill level and personal charm to be raised, the lack of teachers’ morality.Aspects of students performance on passivity in education and teaching activities and the relationship between teachers and students, teachers and students concept held remains to be updated, the learning attitude and mentality is not straight, biased values, lack of awareness of respect for teachers.Colleges and universities need to change the concept of management, lack of institutional guarantees and measures for the formation of the good relationship between teachers and students, as well as current evaluation system needs to be improved.Relevant data for statistical analysis of empirical investigation indicates current university teacher-student relationship status is alienated from the general condition.The low frequency of communication, emotional indifference and utilitarian communication purpose between the teachers and students ultimately make the college teachers and students to think the degree of satisfaction for teacher-student relationship generally low.Throughout different historical periods, in the process of the development of teacher-student relationship,there was not only the dignity of the division but also equal and harmonious relation, and most of time the two co-exist.For the ancient relationship between teachers and students affected by the caste system,there is both strict teacher and humble students and relatively free, open-minded teachers and students of culture.In feudal society, the official school and private school co-exist, strict teacher and humble students is the mainstream, but there are also equal harmonious phenomenon.In the modern society, by the ideological influence of western modern higher education, the relationship between teachers and students appear the harmony of a certain period of time based on the dignity of the teacher, but later due to traditional culture, political system influence and the interference from western powers, the teachers and students relations was again passive.After China was founded, China’s higher education began to explore modernization development with local characteristics, but university teacher-student relationship basically maintain the traditional mode of the relationship between teachers and students as the influence of the Soviet model behavioring both in values and behavior habits.The contemporary society, China has entered a period of social transition, the existence and impact of the dignity of the division in the relationship between teachers and students still can be found everywhere, but democratic, harmonious increasingly become the mainstream of teacher-student relationship.Features and form,which the relationship between teachers and students in different historical periods shows, is directly related to the social environment.It is also a certain degree of refraction about the political, economic and other aspects of society in the field of education.There are some different measures in Britain, the United States, Japan and other developed countries to enhance the satisfaction for the university teacher-student relationship because of their respective cultural differences.But there are also some of the same measures, mainly including:a reasonable student-teacher ratio, strict teacher appointment system, to strengthen the constraints and supervision mechanism, paying attention to the fusion, and emphasis on human nature, and so on.These measures are worthy of reference for China’s colleges and universities. Based on the above conclusions, the paper believes that, to improve the university teacher-student relationship satisfaction is extremely urgent.At the macro level,society needs to create a good atmosphere of respecting teachers, government needs to perfect the relevant laws and regulations, and to create a good environment for education. At the middle level,colleges and universities need to change the concept of management, broaden the channels of communication between teachers and students, perfect the evaluation system, strict teacher recruitment system, to establish and strengthen the restriction of college teachers and students relations supervision mechanism.In the micro aspect, it is necessary for teachers in college and university to change education ideas, establish a new educational concept, clear the responsibilities of university teachers, improve their own personality charm, pay attention to the construction of university teachers’ moral.Students in college and university need to establish a correct view on teachers and students, foster the students’ correct learning and values concept,strengthen the awareness of respecting teachers, and give full play to the consciousness of college students take the initiative to communicate with teachers.Thus, promoting teacher-students relationship in university and college positive development can enhance the satisfaction for relationship between teachers and students.
