Fukazawa Yukichi was a famous educator and thinker of Japan in19th century, and also a core leader of Meiji restoration. He grew up in Japan which is full of worry and suffer around, he visited many countries between semi-civilization and civilization, then viewed brilliant civilization about western countries, completed enlightenment of himself and citizens. He had established and reformed the first private school Keio University to spread his theory. Fukazawa and Meiji government together had increased people’s knowledge, born up a school, made big growth in education and society. As we know these issues one hundred years ago is important in today. Such as his choice to civilization, his view of practical science, his advices about independent spirit. My research is to take a history-research method to analysis social background, personal experience and the origin of his theory.especially to take a big dialogue about "civilization""independent spirit""practical science" and their relationships, then we made a conclude that practical science has included something of science and democracy, which lead to pursuit practical instruction. In the other hand, his views is not totally perfect, so ourselves must take a objective view of his thought and reaction, correctly deal with multi-culture in China. We also need to think about our educative transformation and take a reasonable attitude to modern and traditional culture and thinking.
