Under the influences of professionalism and utilitarianismof higher education and market economy,the humanistic quality of colleges and universities education is about to be marginalized, which is aundisputable fact. How to break the "bottleneck" of the humanistic quality of colleges and universitieseducation and to improve students’ humanistic accomplishment is an urgent subject-matter which need tobe solved. The author takes the teaching of martial culture as an effective vehicle for the education ofhumanistic quality and as the ground for the analysis thereafter. Firstly, this thesis conducts a fieldworkresearch on the current humanistic quality of higher education through questionnaire method and forms aopinion therein that there are fourfold unsettled aspects causing the underdevelopment of the humanisticquality of higher education: environment, method, content and goal of the education on culture.Secondly,this paper chips its analysis from the approach of humanistic spirit and clarifies the humanistic content ofmartial culture, namely humanistic vision of the unity between human and nature, humanity of upholdingharmony and mean, humanity of respecting moral and custom standards and humanistic pursuit of materialsuccess through moral establishment. Thirdly, based on the study and analysis upon the causing factors,this thesis further suggests the leading role of martial cultural education within current higher education onthe quality of humanity, which are curving out a sophistic character, promoting psychological strength,enriching cultural cultivation, encouraging competitive motive. Last but not the least, this thesis gathers theexperiences and results of martial cultural education in Songshan Shaolin Professional Martial College,which are: enhancing quality through martial and cultivating personality through culture. As the practice inSongshan Shaolin Professional Martial College has indicated, the martial cultural education can providedirective role in the education of humanistic quality in colleges, which owns its value that is unable to be combined by other culture. Finally, a brief introduction on the model of teaching in Songshan ShaolinProfessional Martial College is presented in a hope of providing borrowable experiences for others.
