The Social Amplification Of Risk In The Multi-discursive Scene

As an intellectual attempt committed to understanding the social outlook of late-modernity, social theory of risk, since its emergence, had re-portrayed the overview of social world with an unusual perspective. These theories take individual as theoretical axis, concern about the interactions between individual and pluralistic world, make structured cultural analysis in the way of post-structuralism. Some people even regard the risk society as a new historical stage of society. However, those famous experts who had done much in risk theory, often starts their discussion from the constructive of risk, or take constructive as an important prerequisite for risk topics. Indeed, if the face of the world today differ greatly from the past, that may only because we have taken a whole new perspective to look at it, or may only because we have used a completely different language to describe it. Realizing the risk topics are discursive is essential to understand all kinds of risk events in today’s pluralistic world. Multi-discourse increases the complexities of risk events in essence. And the intensification and eliminate of risk events is also accompanied by the discourses process.In this theoretical background, this thesis began with the discussion of multi-discursive basis, then analyzed several path types of social amplification of risk in multi-discursive scene, then focused on the power of system reconstruction which was showed in the process of the risk response of multiple subjects, and finally propose a hypothesis of social diverse reconstruction which based on risk perspective. This thesis consists of five parts in specific:Part Ⅰ:the Introduction, took the multi-discursive scene and the social amplification of risk as two themes, described the theoretical background of this thesis. This part reviewed the researches on the power image of multi-discourse and the practice field of the power of discourse, then introduced perspectives of discursive construction of all kinds of risk theory, and reviewed the SARF.Part Ⅱ:this part analyzed the multi-discursive basis of risk amplification, mainly from two characteristics-the fail of social self-resolving mechanism of risk and the decadence of institutional discursive scene. The text discussed four distinct topics which portrayed the multi-discursive scene:the allocation of risk, the revolution of discursive forms of risk, the risk knowledge and cultural field and the risk communities.Part Ⅲ:the amplifying path types of social risk in multi-discursive scene. Based on the data of public risk events in recent years, summarized and analyzed five discursive dynamic mechanism of social amplification of risk in multi-discursive scene through five themes of derivative, irrational, stigma, demonstration and reflective. Part Ⅳ:the diverse responses and system reconstruction from risk amplification. This part concerned the affect on those events from participation of diverse subjects in the process of risk events, and the power of system reconstruction from routine risk actions, focusing on the opinion groups, the sub-consequences, the cultural reconstruction and the trust rebuilding as four ways of system reconstruction which were easy to observe.Part V:this part summarized and discussed the phenomenon of system reconstruction which brought by risk events in multi-discursive scene and routine actions of diverse actors, and developed an analysis model used to describe the multiple construct effect in the processes of risk events. Thus we can through the view of risk theories, on a middle level, dynamically consider about the restructuring of today’s society.
