Postmodernism’s Influence Upon College Students’ Political Beliefs And Countermeasures

Postmodernism, the radical philosophy started and populated in the Western countries since the1960s, was introduced to our country in the1980s, which was the key period of the reform and opening-up. Fast expansion of this new ideological trend in social and cultural field has brought great impact on people’s mental and material lives. College students, as one of the most sensitive communities, received the most striking influence. Crisis of political beliefs, e.g. attenuated ideal and belief; utilitarianism and secularization of the political belief; frailness, etc appeared in some of the students, thus, helping them to have a correct view on the postmodernism, eliminating the negative impact of this philosophy on the political beliefs, have become a important topic for the college ideological and political education field. In this paper, four parts are developed to discuss the issue.In the introduction part, theoretical and practical significance of researching the postmodernism’s impact on undergraduates’political beliefs and countermeasures are clarified, reasons and purposes of the subject are stated. Meanwhile, current research situation, research ideas and research methods are introduced; distinguishing features and innovations of the paper are summarized.The first part analyzes the situation of college students’political beliefs under the impact of postmodernism. The survey has found that, political belief of most college students are positive and reasonable, however, problems still exists in part of them, mainly including:attenuation of the subject consciousness; pluralism of the political belief; irrationalization of the belief content; realism of the belief choice.Part two analyzes the reason of the above belief crisis, mainly including:fast development of the economic globalization; various negative social phenomena of the country; singleness of the school education pattern; immaturity of the college students; negative impact from the internet communication.Part three proposes some countermeasures against the postmodernism, and some countermeasures to strengthen the guidance on the political belief, mainly including: insist the leadership of Marxism instead of the postmodernism; establish a scientific foundation of the political belief; improve the pragmaticality of the political belief education; enhance the Party construction so as to stabilize the social carrier of Marxism; create a beneficial environment for forming a correct political belief of the college students.
