Postmodernism is the “pan-cultured trend”, produced in the developed westerncapitalist countries in the1950s and1960s, it has formed its theoretical characteristics ofcounter-reason, anti-tradition and anti-center based on criticizing the many drawbacks ofmodernism. It was introduced into our country in the1980s, prevailing since the1990s, andis absorbed in many fields such as film and mass media, internet, vanguard literature worksand college campus nowadays, forming a unique view of culture. College students areyoung, full of passion, active thinking, willing to accept new things, so they naturally formthe main body who accept, participant in, spread, and create the postmodernism trend andits culture; as a result, their thinking and life style are deeply shaped. The postmodernismenlarged the view of college students, offering a new way of thinking and life style,improving their ability of criticizing and innovation, meanwhile, they become moreconcerned with the edge group and weak group, consolidating their environment protectionconsciousness. At the same time, postmodernism trend tend to go to the other extreme, itmay enmesh the students to “moral relativism” and “historical nihilism”, make them to giveup ideal and belief, spirit of striving unceasingly and arduous struggling, the practice ofdeconstruction and mockery may dispel the impact of mainstream values of socialism andreduce the effect of political and ideological education in college. Facing this context, weworker of political and ideological education in college should face it bravely, guide itrationally. We should study and borrow ideas from the reasonable factor of thepostmodernism, improving the relationship between teachers and students and specificteaching methods; for the negative impacts, we should analyze them rationally, guide thestudents to a positive direction, avoiding the bad impacts to them from the postmodernism.Based on the comprehensive analysis of the background, characteristics and currentsituation of transmission in China of postmodernism, the author has studied both thepositive and negative impacts dialectically, especially the latter. Then points out theideological and political education workers have to face the in a multicultural context,especially in front of adverse effects in postmodernism, universities should increasepublicity and education of the socialist core value system, leading the multicultural trendwith the socialist core value system, and put forward the enhancement of the culturalconsciousness and identification to the socialist core value system in college students.Traditional subject-object relationship between teachers and students should be replaced bynew relationship based on inter subject to cope with new conditions and trample the principle of humanism and improve the effect of political and ideological education incollege. For the new environment, I demonstrated the innovation of political andideological education in college, including reform of teaching methods, use of internet,complementation of good students, construction of school culture and the construction ofcounselor.
