Postmodernism as a surge of western social thought has a strong influence, itbegan in Europe and America in the1960s, with the economic globalization andintegration gradually deepened, postmodernism gradually spreads to the world andhas a broad and profound impact in the political, economic, cultural, social and otherfields. Postmodernism is not a product that people imagined, but decided by objectiveeconomic foundation. The rapid development of western industrial civilization, so thatwestern society shifts from industrial era to post-industrial era, simply changing theindustrial economy to the knowledge-based economy, and people’s productionmethods and lifestyle gradually converge. In a series of transition process, leading to aseries of social conflicts and problems, these social contradictions and problems in theideological and cultural fields of the most prominent manifestation of this ispost-modernism, post-modernism is the social contradictions and social problems thatconcentrated reflection of the transition period. Postmodernism passes into ourcountry in the late1970’s. It has exerted influence on the development of the collegeideological and political education. The theory of postmodernism contains certainreasonable component, but there are more negative and unreasonable respects, and thenegative effect to the development of the college ideological and political education ismain and essential. So we need to discriminate postmodernism scientifically, formingobjective evaluation. In the development of the college ideological and politicaleducation,we should make an effort to avoid or reduce the negative influence ofpostmodernism. Thus it can boost the development of the college ideological andpolitical education.This article except introduction and epilogue outside, main points three parts:The first part expounded on the theory of postmodernism from three respects.Firstly, delimiting the concept of postmodernism. This part outlined the background ofpostmodernism, and summarized the implication of postmodernism from four aspetcs.Then, this part explained difference and similarity between postmodernism andmodernism. At last, this part summarized the theoretical characteristic of postmodernism, and evaluated objectively the postmodernism.The second part analyzed detailedly the performance and reason of thepostmodernism influencing negatively on the college ideological and politicaleducation. Firstly, this part expounded the performance of the postmodernisminfluencing negatively on the college ideological and political education, expoundingmore deeply from the purpose of ideological and political education, the methodologyof college ideological and political education. Then this part analyzed the reason ofthe postmodernism influencing negatively on the college ideological and politicaleducation. The reasons are analyzed and expounded from three respects, includinginternational surroundings and domestic surronudings, modern mass media,misunderstanding of traditional concept in the college ideological and politicaleducation.The third part analyzed and expounded specifically the countermeasure weshould take in the influence of postmodernism on the college ideological and politicaleducation. This part expounded from three big respects. We should discriminatepostmodernism scientifically. And we should persevere in the system of socialist corevalues. We should also strengthen the guiding and training of college ideological andpolitical education object.This part is the full text of the theoretical value and practicalsignificance of the part.
