In the past 30 years since the reform, the political strength, economic level and cultural life of China have been promoted and developed greatly. Meanwhile, people’s behavioral manners and concepts have changed considerably. Thus, the ideological and political education of colleges and universities has become more and more important in the personnel training. Being part of education career, adult education has enrolled more students annually through increasingly diversified forms of school running. Therefore, how to conduct well and effectively the ideological and political education of higher adult education students has become of extreme significance.With the fast development of knowledge-based economy and the continuous thrust of globalization and informationization, more and more fangles continue to spring up. The ideological and political education of higher adult education students has shown striking characteristics different from the past. In such a case, to achieve better effects of the ideological and political education of higher adult education students, we shall not cling to those routines and conventions any more. We shall keep pace with the times and keep blazing new trails in a pioneering spirit. This paper, starting with the current situation of China’s ideological and political education of higher adult education, analyses the subjective and objective causes for its unsatisfactory effects. Combined with the new features of current ideological and political education of higher adult education, the paper puts forward the reform direction and innovative methods in order to achieve the goal of bettering the effects of the education.
