According to the policy of Ministry of Education and General Administration of Sport of China, Hongquan will be promoted among primary and secondary schools in China. This action, combined with the overall framework of martial arts in primary and secondary schools, will gradually add martial arts into their school curriculum. This policy has been well implemented in Shaanxi province and Xi’an Lianhu district has been treated as a pilot project to experiment on the entering of "Hongquan", the traditional boxing in Shaanxi province, into the primary and secondary schools.This paper mainly adopts the following research methods:questionnaire survey, interviewing method, documentary method, statistical method, logic analysis. Through the surveys and interviews of teachers, students and some relative leaders in32primary and secondary schools in Lianhu district, this paper gets the following conclusions:1. After the experiment of primary and secondary schools in Xi’an Lianhu district, it can be seen that as a local boxing art in Shaanxi, it is feasible for Hongquan to enter the schoolyard. This provides some reference to the entering of martial arts into primary and secondary schools.2. The successful development of Hongquan in primary and secondary schools in Xi’an Lianhu district mainly ascribes to the great attention of the leaders and the encouragement and financial support of government. In this case, both the teachers and students in primary and secondary schools have strengthen their knowledge and understanding of martial arts.3. The objective condition of the successful development of Hongquan in primary and secondary schools in Xi’an Lianhu district attributes to the teachers in this district. The PE teachers’system in Lianhu district is well-structured and they attend the training of Hongquan actively. Meanwhile, they adopt various teaching methods and strategies. The PE teachers play a leading role in the teaching process of martial arts in schools.4. The basic condition of the successful development of Hongquan in primary and secondary schools in Xi’an Lianhu district attributes to the passion and enthusiasm of the students. The students hold different views on Hongquan. Among them,50%can achieve the teaching goals and have a good learning effect. They agree that Hongquan can benefit their health and mind, build their body and promote the school education.5. Other areas in Shaanxi can learn some experience from Lianhu district and implement the policy of martial arts into primary and secondary schools gradually and designedly so as to build a proper way of martial arts into schools with local features. In addition, the understanding of martial arts of leaders, teachers and students should be fully strengthened so as to promote the development of Hongquan and expend the influence of martial arts in province-wide.6. There are obviously some defects in development of Hongquan in primary and secondary schools in Xi’an Lianhu district:the teachers in martial arts have low professional levels; the teaching contents need to be improves; the promotion of Hongquan is not pleasant. These problems require to be solved.Thus on the basis of the current development and survey of Hongquan in Lianhu district, this paper analyze the current situation of Hongquan in primary and secondary schools objectively, and try to explore the restricting factors so as to get some ideas to improve the development of martial arts in primary and secondary schools. This will certainly promote the development and inheritance of Shaanxi Hongquan, provide the theoretical basis to the action of promoting martial arts into primary and secondary schools in Shaanxi province and offer some reference to the superior administrative departments in their policy making.
