In the new century, with China’s rapid economic and social development, thecompetition of talents has become the emphasis and hotspot of competition betweenthe countries in the world, and more and more high-quality talents enter society fromschool which is the nurturing and training center. So physical education which takesa dominant part in basic education should not use traditional Chinese way to educatestudents. As for teaching methods and content, the concept of keeping pace with thetimes and people-oriented should be kept. Thus, the talents needed in the new era canbe cultivated better. School, as a training base for gifted students, should be reformedwith the development of our society. For a long time, secondary schools have beeninitially equipped with basketball venues and facilities varying in different scales.Nowadays, with the gradual deepening of physical education curriculum reform, andwith the appearing of optional items by students themselves in teaching, physicaleducation teaching which takes basketball as material has been increasingly usedwidely and improved, and basketball teaching is becoming increasingly prominent inmiddle school physical education .In this paper, using literature material law, questionnaire survey, expertinterview, logical analysis and mathematical statistics, we investigated and analyzedthe basketball teaching present situation of Zibo experimental high school, ZiboNO.1 senior high school, Zibo NO.4 senior high school, Zibo NO.5 senior highschool, Zibo NO.6 senior high school, Zibo NO.7senior high school and Zibo middleschool. Through the study, we have found the problems existing in current basketballteaching and try to find solutions for these problems and give out our suggestions forreasonably developing basketball in high middle schools in Zibo city. At the sametime, we could offer valid reference for implementing Zibo high middle schools"Senior Sports and Health curriculum standard" smoothly. After the investigation, we discovered that there are several problems in Zibosenior middle school basketball teaching: (l) Compared with the requirements of newcurriculum standards, in Zibo key high schools, basketball teaching facilities is notenough, especially in spare time, they cannot meet the needs of the vast numbers ofhigh school students; (2) Basketball teachers need to upgrade their overall quality. Inboth multi-media teaching methods and the mastery of teaching standard, there is acertain lack; (3)The unit arrangement and semester arrangement of basketball classesare not scientific, and cannot change according to the reality of schools; (4) In theimplementation process of basketball teaching reform, basketball teaching plan andselection, goals of arranging teaching content, teaching evaluation system clearly didnot go far enough; (5)The concepts of "teacher-oriented, student-centered" must bechanged quickly. A wide range of students’ needs cannot be met; (6) Relativeofficials do not pay enough attention to the reform of basketball teaching, resultingin basketball teachers’ interest in teaching and confidence in basketball teachingreform are frustrated.Regarding these results, we can offer the following solutions: (1) Hold variouskinds of teacher training classes, and make efforts to improve basketball teachers’theoretical and professional ability in key high schools; (2) Establish a new guidingconcepts and ideas; (3) Continually increase the investment in basketball courts andfacilities, and improve the utilization rate of venues and facilities; (4) Basketballteachers should master the modern teaching methods and improve their overallquality; (5) Confirm basketball teaching goals, grasp the importance of sportstechniques teaching and mental health, and emphasize the realization of basketballteaching goals; (6) Make basketball teaching plans seriously, and arrange students’development ability reasonably; (7) According to students’ practical needs, innovatebasketball teaching content by processing and transforming the original basketballteaching content; (8) Change the traditional teaching methods, and treat therelationship between teachers and students properly.
