This paper sets up the research of teaching situations of basketball selective course in Fujian’s colleges, using the methods of literature review, questionnaires, expert interview and mathematical statistics, on teacher resources, teaching methods, objectives, formats, contents and the participations of students on basketball courses, and analyses the factors of impacting on teaching situations of basketball selective course in Fujian’s colleges. Finally, the author lists the suggestions of improving the teaching quality of, and offers the theoretical basis and practical experience for the development of basketball course in Fujian’s colleges. The research outcomes as below:(1) The age and the level of basketball teachers are reasonable but, the proportion of gender is imbalance and teaching years is durable in Fujian’s colleges;(2) Since the lack of funding budget, most colleges are using damaged balls with low frequency of renew, and at the situation of equipments shortage, poor management, which causes the serious impacts on the basic teaching;(3) The teaching contents are comprehensive, including the theory and practice, which can satisfy the requirement of students, and the objectives of basketball selective course highlights three aspects of physical fitness, mental fitness and social adaption;(4)The difference of gender proportion of basketball selective course in Fujian’s colleges is obvious, which the male percentage is far more than female’s. The students, who choose basketball course, accepts this sport activity psychologically and, realizes the meanings and the advantages of playing basketball as a common exercise, but the percentages of taking exercise off the course is still in a low level by the student in the basketball selective course.(5) The most basketball teachers pay less attention to the preparation of the course, and use the conditional teaching methods during the course. Moreover, most teachers set up the teaching units basing on the administration classes, and separate them into groups in various ways.(6) The student evaluation of teaching is still traditionally, which makes up of unified technological examination and performance during the course.(7)The facts of restricting Fujian’s colleges basketball selective course improvement are sorted as:the attention level of administrative departments pay to, the overall abilities of PE teachers and the equipment quality, the basketball course contents selections and teaching methods, and the evaluation.
