The Influence Of Matriculate Quality Of Local Normal College On Implementing The Strategy Of Rejuvenating The Country Through Science And Education

In March, 1978, Deng Xiaoping proposed:“Science and technology is the firstproductive force.”In May, 1995, the State Council advocated:“The strategy ofrejuvenating the country through science and education should be implementedfirmly.”During the thirty years, it has been proved that cultivating talents of variouslevels is essential to either implementing the strategy of rejuvenating the countrythrough science and education or building a cultural power. Cultivating talentsdepends on education institutions at all levels. As an important part in the machine ofcultivating talents, local normal colleges provide qualified workers and constructorsfor local economic growth as well as qualified teachers for the elementary schools. Inrecent years, the scale of local normal colleges has increased greatly along with theenrollment expansion of colleges. However, many local normal colleges havegradually ignored their target of cultivating qualified teachers for elementaryeducation, and teaching thinking, teaching content and method have also deviatedfrom the reform of elementary education. Consequently, unemployment is brought tothose graduates from local normal colleges on the one hand. On the other hand, morehigh school graduates decline to go to local normal colleges, which worsen the poormatriculate quality of local normal colleges. At the same time, poor matriculatequality will affect the realization of the target of cultivating qualified teachers forelementary education. The vicious cycle will finally have negative effect on the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education.Based on the need for talents in the implementing of the strategy of rejuvenatingthe country through science and education, the thesis first analyzes the role of basiceducation playing in the implementing of the strategy of rejuvenating the countrythrough science and education, the influence of local normal college on the basiceducation. Then, the thesis discusses the subject of how to improve the teachingquality in the local normal colleges and how will the matriculate quality influencetheir teaching level.Finally, some suggestion have been given on how will local normal colleges findtheir position to provide service for the local economic developing, promoting thelevel in cultivating teachers for elementary education. In the process of implementingthe strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education, local normalcolleges should play its important role.
