Quality is an eternal issue in teacher education, to guarantee and improve teacher education quality is the core theme of the reform and development of teacher education all over the world. As the basis for training teachers, initial teacher education plays a key role in improving the overall quality of teachers, and realizing teachers’professionalization. Teacher education in China is in a period of from independentment and directed teacher education transition to a flexible and open system of teacher education, tremendous progress has been made and much experience has been accumulated in this regard, and the new situation of pluralistic teacher education has formed. However, some noticeable issues have also emerged in its development, in particular the issue of education quality.Australia in the field of teacher education can be described as relatively advanced, the federal government has made the first "Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia" in the early 21 century, including professional and authoritative accreditation, explicitly accreditation standars and scientific and reasonable accreditation process. Research on the accreditation system is helpful for us to learn form Australia’s good practice of teacher education, and it is more important for developing accreditation system of teacher education in China. The paper consists of six sections:Section one is the introduction, including the reasons of the study, a review of the literature of initial teacher education in Australian, the study content "Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia", and the definitions of key concepts,such as "initial teacher education programs" "national accreditation".Section two analyzes deeply the emerging backgrounds of "Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia", revealed the generation of the national accreditation is an important measure for Anstralian Federal Government to improve the quality of their teachers and achive high-quality national goals, under the tendency of teachers’professionalization.Section three analyzes the core content of "Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia". This section mainly uses the methods of factor analysis to discuss the accreditation main body, accreditation standars and accreditation process of the "Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia".Section four analyzes the characteristics of the "Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia", point out it has many characteristics, such as the the accreditation main body are professional, accreditation standars focus on building partnerships, highlight training teachers practice ability and the accreditation adheres to the goal of quality education.Section five emphasizes the "Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia" will play an active role in guaranting the quality of initial teacher education and improving the social credibility of the teachers, but there are still many problems to be improved.Section six on the basis of the analysis of "Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia", describes the inspiration to teachers’ education reform in our country, emphasizes that China should accelerate the development and implementation of the accreditation of teacher education, learning from foreign experience, which is suitable for Chinese teacher and Chinese society.
