Social organizations, the government, and enterprises stand as three giant pillars of contemporary society and are the main forces in maintaining a harmonious society. In recent decades, social organizations have sprouted and flourished in countries around the world. However, their long-term sustainability has remained a constant concern. Most rely on a mix of government funding and individual donations that greatly restricts the scope and impact of their activities. Social organizations’ core mission has always been to solve society’s most basic issues. How do social organizations ensure their long-term survival and simultaneously fulfill the wide-ranging needs of society’s most underprivileged, improve their quality of life, draw them into the process of wealth creation, and establish a sustainable economic environment to ultimately and successfully achieve the goal of alleviating poverty. In light of the relative weakness of domestic hybrid value chain theory, international theory serves as the foundation for this exploration. Following the hybrid value chain guiding principles set forth by the Wharton School, this paper produces a comparative analysis of the market application of three representative overseas case studies of the hybrid value chain through the lens of marketing and hybrid value chain theories, as well as PEST and SWOT analysis tools. This study confirms the commercial success of the hybrid value chain as well as its broad applicability. In accordance with China’s unique situation, hybrid value chain development in China requires extra analysis.
