As a kind of new teaching theory and strategy system, Cooperative Learning(CL) was put forward by the famous American scholar Robert E Slavin in the early1970s, it got a clear agreement in the mid1970s to80s. Owing to its unique creativity, scientific theory, and remarkable success in covering the shortage of class teaching and individual learning, CL can improve students’ performance effectively, and promote the students’ non-intelligence quality in a good way. The effective teaching model has been caused extensive attention all over the world. For that, it became one of the modern mainstream teaching theories and strategies. English serves for all the students, and focus on quality education. In this sense, the goal of curriculum reform is to foster cooperation among the ability of students. Under the trend of new curriculum reform, CL study in the primary school has corresponded academic value. The paper analyses the primary English teaching from the view of CL theory. The author uses two questionnaires to have a general understanding about current study, that from students of Grade Five and Grade Six in a primary school in the city of Nanning. And some relevant suggestions are coming up for improving the English level under the method of CL.This paper, from the cooperative learning strategy, chooses four classes of Great Five and Great Six in a primary-school in Nanning as the subjects. Through two questionnaires survey, the paper overviews cooperative learning use in the primary-school English teaching and make the comparative analysis from the data.The results show that cooperative learning is welcomed by students in primary school English teaching. The teaching effect is remarkable. Gender differences, however, is to make the students treat cooperative learning with different attitudes. Comparing with females, males are weaker on the initiative of cooperative learning, the same as presentation skill. The frequency of teacher use about cooperative learning strategy in English teaching is deficient. Communication between parents and students is weak. They lack certain communication. They neglect the students’ cooperative learning in English teaching.Based on this information, the author offers some suggestions from the aspects of students, the teachers teaching ability and parents’supervision.Such as to improve the students’ability of cooperative learning, teachers should strengthen the learning strategies knowledge and parents increase the supervision in students’learning outside the classroom.
