College Students’ CT Negative Growth Under The ICT Environment

With the high speed development of ICT, information education, media literacy, information literacy have become hot spots in the area of education research, they have the same objective which is to develop the ability to correctly recognize the media and information, but the essense is to develop the individual’s critical thinking ability. Also, quality education focus on the training of the students’innovation spirit and innovation ability, but the cultivation of innovative thinking is built on the basis of critical thinking.It says that destruction before construction, that is only in the basis of criticism to make innovations. So critical thinking is an urgent research problem. However, among the related researchs about ICT and CT, most domestic researchs are only from the perspective of the positive function of ICT, to focus on the positive function of ICT.Based on the Chaos Theory, through the investigation of teaching practice, break through the past perspective for the research of ICT and CT, and then put forward the following assumption:college students’ critical thinking ability (CT) presentes the state of negative growth under the environment of ICT. According to the Merton’s negative function theory, from the perspective of ICT’s negative function, it points out that ICT not entirely supports and promotes CT,ie, ICT also has the negative function on college students’ CT, and under the ICT environment, the negative growth of college student’s CT is one of the negative functions of ICT.And from the viewpoint of technical dissimilation theory, it demonstrates that the technological rational thinking way resulted from ICT alienation is the essence of ICT negative functions. Namely:ICT alienation leads to the technological rational thinking way, as a negative function of ICT, has an influence on the development of college students’ CT, resuting its state of negative growth. Technological rational thinking mode is a kind of unidirectional thinking way, pursuiting the plan, practice and efficiency,with the unidirectional cultural value view, the unidirectional target, one-mentional viewpoint of thinking, which has a influence on the education value and the teaching goal orientation and the teaching process, produces a one-mentional education context: presented as the utilitarian pursuit of education value; the unilateralism of teaching purpose; the stereotyped teaching method; the mechanization and linearized teaching process; the non-democratization of teaching context and so on, which directly has an effect on college students’ initiative, enthusiasm and effective participation, and then on the thinking way, leading to the rigid and inflexible thinking, so that CT lose the implementational possibility and then results the negative growth inevitably.This paper respectively has an argumentation in the view of the practice research, theoretical arguments and case analysis. The whole text consistes with the following seven chapters.Chapter1as the introduction,expounds the research background, significance, the domestic and foreign research present situation and evaluation, and the structure, idea and method of the research content.Chapter2puts forward chaos theory, Merton’s structure and function theory, technological alienation theory as the theoretical basis of this study, and expounds how they support the paper.Chapter3describes the general situation of the critical thinking and its telated theories:to review and analyze Ennis’s critical thinking theory, Paul’s critical thinking theory and Facione’s self adjusting theory. At the same time,from the elements, process and characteristic of critical thinking, it demonstrates the plasticity of the critical thinking. At last,it introduces the standard scale of critical thinking---California Critical Thinking Skills Test (CCTST), and translates the special scale CAT for the CT under ICT.Chapter4has an investigation research of college students’ CT undrer ICT environment:firstly, introduces the CT measuring tool. Secondly,gives a presentation of the objects and research method. At last it makes a statistics and analysis for the survey data with SPSS. Chapter5has an attribution analysis for practical research results, with the above three theoretical basis, and has a further argumentation combining with the reality of the Instructional Design as a case analysis.Chapter6based on the practical investigation research and theory basis, through the above cases analysis, further analysis and puts forward that the basic way to cultivate college students’ CT under ICT environment is the realization of integration between ICT and curriculum based on critical pedagogy theory, namely:to develop critical teaching theory, view education as the transmision process of cultural heritage, in the education teaching process,to change the the technical rational cultural values and unidirectional thinking way, to realize cultural criticism under the respect for cultural diversity symbiosis; Follow the scientific humanistic education value viewpoint, using ICT to create the democratic dialogue education field. During the specific teaching practice, starting from teacher training course, to introduces more cultural criticism subjects, make teachers leave from the bondage of technological rational thinking way, firstly to realize teachers’ liberation of self-worth, thus under advocating education values of multicultural coexistence, to carry out and optimize the integration of ICT with curriculum, to establish the democratic dialogue classroom teaching context, and to improve students’ cultural experience expression and participation, explore and discover, to cultivate individual critical thinking consciousness and ability.Chapter7summarizes research results in this paper, points out that the novelty and the deficiency, and puts forward the research prospect.
