The Study Of Plantain Culture In Zhuang

Zhuang plantain has been planted by Zhuang ethnic minority with a history ofover2000years. As a kind of age-old semi-tropical plant growing in Ling-Nan (apart of south China), Zhuang plantain had got deeply into the life and sprit worldof Zhuang ethnic minority people, it already had not been a pure conception fornormal plant and endowed a special trait with humanity in the area that peoplelived. Base on Zhuang plantain, a kind of culture phenomena and system also wereformed gradually.On the basis of on-the-spot survey data in two places—A Village(a Village inChangtang town, Qingxiu District of Nanning)and B Village (a Village in Zhebaocountry of Longlin)，this paper makes a census on Zhuang plantain on diet inmultiple functions，the history of fabric which made of by Zhang plantain，andmany folk beliefs as well as customs activities related to Zhuang plantain.Zhangplantain means "undivided attention" in Zhuang collective memory， whichreflected the Zhuang pure concepts of love and noble collective of view，as well aswhich embodies Zhuang spirit， image of moral level, and its aestheticfeatures.Furthermore, Zhang plantain can not only provide food and handicraftsfor us but also have multiple religious function in Zhuang district. As a medium ofcommunication between people and the God，plantain reflect the characteristics ofblessing, exorcism, regenerative in Zhuang customs, including plantains incensedragon dance, this contains religious beliefs in Zhuang Folk Festival. The mainpurpose of this paper is to exploited the plantain potential symbol system inZhuang religious beliefs.
