The high school Chinese courses were divided into compulsory and elective modules by the new round curriculum reform. As the material basis of elective course, the textbook is an important tool for teachers and students in Chinese learning. Since2003, a total of five versions of72elective textbooks were put into practice. How to evaluate them, and make the proper selection are problems which are in front of many schools and teachers.Therefore, this paper summarized and compiled a Chinese elective textbook evaluation form from two aspects, one is theoretical summary and the other is practice research. And then, the paper used the assessment tool to respectively evaluate a total of six novel textbooks. Finally, according to the evaluation results, the paper summarized the advantages and disadvantages of each version and put forward some corresponding recommendations.The main part of the paper consists of four parts:The first part is an introduction, including the definition of core concepts, literature review and research the origin and significance. It pointed that there were lots of research results on textbook evaluation in the present theoretical circles, but the results mainly focused on the compulsory textbooks and were rarely involved in Chinese elective course.The second part firstly summarized the theory of the preparation of the evaluation form from four parts. And then, it summed up the practice requirements of the evaluation form according to the surveys and interviews of front-line teachers and students. Finally, it compiled a textbook evaluation tool:an evaluation form.The third part used the form mentioned above to evaluate novel textbooks of three versions. It firstly listed the characteristics of each book, and then implemented evaluation, to come to their respective advantages and disadvantages.The fourth part is the feedback, which were based on the evaluation results, including for teachers how to use the evaluation results of the above, and for editors how to improve after editing.In short, the paper compiled a Chinese elective textbooks evaluation tool through theoretical summary and practical investigation, and then used this tool. Ultimately, it came to some feedback. We expected to get the attention of some education sectors and improve high school Chinese elective textbooks with some efforts.
