An important objective of the new reform of basic education is to bring the electiveness into the curriculum system and to construct the curriculum system of high school with Chinese characteristics and vitalities finally. Therefore, compiling the high-quality Chinese textbooks which meet the requirements of The Senior Chinese Course Standard (Experimental Edition) to enhance Chinese accomplishment of students is one of the important tasks now.The elective part of The Experimental Chinese Textbooks of Curriculum Standards in High Schools by Jiangsu Education Press, which has passed the first trial of National Authorized Committee of Primary and Secondary School Textbooks in 2005 and 2006, is one of the five series of textbooks putting to use. The thesis analyzes and points out the merits and shortcomings on the basis of the research object of Chinese elective textbooks of high schools published by Jiangsu Education Press, the study method of document and investigation and the research of usage to teachers and students after a large number of documents and papers. Then we suggest the appropriate measures of usage and revision to contribute to the improvement of textbooks.The thesis consists of three parts: Introduction, text and appendices. The text is composed of six chapters.Introduction: Introduce briefly the history and actuality of Chinese elective textbooks of high schools, the research situation of Chinese elective textbooks of high schools at the background of new curriculum and the contents, methods and significance of the thesis.Chapter1:Discussing the background of Chinese elective textbooks of high schools published by Jiangsu Education Press from 3 aspects: the understanding of disadvantage of domestic curriculum system; the implementation of new basic education reform and the introduction of foreign education thought. Chapter2:Presenting individually the essential framework and main features of 16 modules in five series about Chinese elective textbooks of high schools published by Jiangsu Education Press.Chapter 3: Analyzing the structure of Chinese elective textbooks of high schools published by Jiangsu Education Press. The main part is analyzed from composition and main features, including help-reading system, text system, knowledge system and exercise systemChapter 4 :Analyzing the content orientation of Chinese elective textbooks of high schools published by Jiangsu Education Press. We focus on the cultivation of students'aesthetic ability, application ability and inquiry ability.Chapter5:To investigate and analyze the usage of textbooks. First of all, to indicate the general situation of the investigation; secondly, to introduce the usage by the students and teachers respectively; at last, to analyze the results of the survey.Chapter 6:To give the suggestions to schools, teachers and editors basing on the results of the investigation in Chapter 5.This thesis considers that The Experimental Chinese Textbooks of Curriculum Standards in High Schools by Jiangsu Education Press (elective part), which characterize by the basic unit of topic, the basic form of the text, the feature of combination of modernization and typicality for text selecting, the main structure system of help-reading system, text system, knowledge system and exercise system and the content orientation of aesthetic ability, application ability and inquiry ability, are generally considered as the high-quality Chinese textbooks to meet the requirements of The Senior Chinese Course Standard (Experimental Edition). The textbooks obtain accordant appreciation by both of teachers and students in service. However, further improvements are also needed.
