During the21st century, the focus of human development is not only environmentally ecological but also culturally ecological. The traditions and changes of culture attract wide attention. Wushu is one of these traditions, and it has own traditions. How does the inner world and the real world of inheritors work throughout the inheritance? How is the small environment of Wushu influenced by changes in its long background? What did people in the small environment choose? How have these choices influenced tradition? How does the master-apprentice system, as the traditional system of inheritance of Wushu culture, work? This article views the master-apprentice inheritance as an individual case and researches its past, present, and future. Firstly through the history of wu-style taijiquan, and secondly through discussing the discipleship ceremony and the relationship between masters and apprentices. The aim is to construct a system of how the master-apprentice system influences the inheritance of Wushu culture, view the inheritance of Wushu culture from dream world and real world through the people engaged in Wushu, find the condition and blocks of the master-apprentice system that influence the inheritance of Wushu culture in modern society, and, finally, forecast the future of the master-apprentice system. The method of this research is field survey. Using specific research methods and techniques, including literature materials, deep talk and oral history, investigative field visits, and participate in observation to collect first-hand information. This is followed by logical analysis and inductive argument of all integrated materialsThe conclusions are as follows:The master-apprentice system played an important role in the inheritance of wu-style taijiquan. It is the most important way of inheritance, and will still be in the future. Wu-style taijiquan was born in the late Qing Dynasty. Its characteristics were determined in the Republic of China. After the founding of new China, it developed through the stages of prosperity, underestimation, revival and internationalization. Two branches named north and south have formed individual groups and characteristics through their development. The relationship between master and apprentice is a reflection of the relationship between father and son and that between emperor and minister that formed from the Confucian thought, It abides by the patriarchal clan system in the group based on the mentoring relationship. The relationship between master and apprentice is built on two standards:the system level and the psychological level. Both master and student assess their counterpart’s:character and technique. The relationship between master and apprentice changed from "teacher’s dignity" to democracy and equality. The discipleship ceremony is a kind of rite of passage. On the one hand, it is a continuation of the early basic programming that reflects the ingrained tradition. On the other hand, it has changed a lot in scale and form to reflect the era’s influence. The master-apprentice system includes psychological and system mechanisms. And it is facing problems concerning technical level, relationship, and inheritor’s training.
