Teaching Design Of Reading From Excellent English Teachers In Senior Middle School

With the increasing economic and technological communication between China andforeign countries, English is becoming more and more important in daily life. Throughreading a mass of English materials, on one hand, students can enchance their own ideas andintellect. On the other hand, they can enchance their knowledge and enlarge their vocabulary.Therefore, the teaching of English reading in senior high school plays an important role.However,at present,the overall situation of students’ English reading ability is not good.Most of the students can’t meet the requirements of Senior English Curriclum Standard.Thus,improving this situation is imminent. The researcher watches videos of eleven excellentEnglish teachers’ class.While viewing the videos, the researcher makes use of the recordcharts to take notes of the key points and valuable information. After recording, the researchercollects the data and carries out the data analysis. Using data analysis, the researcher getscharacteristics of excellent English teachers’ PPT making, question design and class activitydesign. At the same time, the researcher gives suggestions for ordinary English teachers whenthey are giving reading lessons.My thesis bases on four research questions:(1) What are the good points of excellentEnglish teachers’ PPT?(2) What are the advantages of excellent English teachers’ questiondesign?(3) What are the advantages of excellent English teachers’ class activity design?(4)What suggestions can excellent English teachers’ reading class design bring to ordinaryEnglish teachers? Research instruments of my thesis are PPT of excellent English teachersand their class videosThe results of data analysis indicate three points: First, excellent English teachers’ PPTis made quite well, full of video clips and colorful pictures. Second, the question design ofexcellent English teachers’ reading class is scientific, including many different kinds.Enquiring and expanding questions, are often used in excellent English teachers’ readingclass. Third, activity design of excellent English teachers is various. The most frequent usedactivity in excellent English teachers’ reading class is group discussions.
