For children’s lifelong English studying, it is very meaningful that primary schoolsin the countryside begin to set up English course. The English abilities of all studentsfrom Longcheng School District have improved greatly. Since2001when all theprimary schools of the countryside offered English from Grade Three to Six, Studentslearn vocabulary more than they did in the past. Moreover, their competence of listening, speaking, reading and writing also improve a lot at the same time. However, it bringssome negative effects which can’t be underestimated. Due to regional differencesEnglish course doesn’t be implemented very well and teachers in mountainous schoolsare worse than those in town schools. In addition, some pupils in rich families can haveclass in cram schools in holidays, etc. They make the middle school English teachingfacing serious polarization. It not only affects deeply English teaching of the middleschools, but also impedes the work being carried out in time. Pupils who learned well inthe primary schools think the teaching speed being too slow, and pupils who learnedbadly think it too fast, while pupils who were between them don’t understand it verywell. It affects greatly the student’s positive and initiative study. Moreover, as themerger of the countryside elementary school is increasing, the negative effects are moreapparent and serious. Therefore education department appeals strongly: the Englishteaching link between elementary and secondary schools in rural areas should bereplaced at the most important place in the curriculum reform. Hence, As a primaryschool English teacher, the author collects some information about feelings of juniorschool freshman and pupils who are in Grade Six, combine it with my teachingexperience at primary and secondary schools, and find that the gap betweenmountainous and town schools is big; the connection between middle and primary school is poor. The author focuses especially on the five aspects: objectives of middleand primary schools, teachers, family and students, and analyzes the reason of poorconnection.Under the circumstance of knowing current teaching situation, the author makesuse of senior research achievements and raises some feasible implementation measures:The key of connecting well is to decrease the gap between mountainous schools andtown schools for education department by sending prominent teachers and teachingequipment. The measure is only suitable for those mountainous schools and grades thatcan not be merger into town schools. The education leaders should do their best to directthe town schools and mountainous schools to achieve resource sharing of teaching. Inaddition, teachers in mountainous schools should improve constantly their ownlanguage knowledge and competence by using distance learning and networked learning. In order to narrow the gap of between the town and mountainous schools, interactiveimpact of internal and external aspects act on the English teaching of mountainousschools; The importance of connecting well is to deal with the relationship of middleand primary school, i.e., primary and middle schools should cooperate fully, and theymust achieve congruence, seek common points while reserving difference in classroommanagement, teaching ways and learning strategies, get support from students′parents. Moreover, they should cooperate to cultivate learning habits, competence and strategiesof students in primary school. English teachers of middle schools should keep theachievement of pupils improve and deepen it at the same time. Finally, although the idea that the content of the text book of grade six and sevenhave some same places has been prevalent. This phenomenon is sometimes calledrepeated labor or the waste of resources. It affects some teachers, but it isn’t true. Sincethe author calls for all teachers of primary and secondary school teachers don’tcomplain the objective reasons and they should analyze carefully the reason why thecondition exist, deliberate the interface between primary and secondary schools andimprove the bad condition of countryside education.
