The new round of curriculum reform in basic education is a systemsengineering, and the reform of academic evaluation plays animportant role among all these closely working links. It is the basiccontent of curriculum evaluation reform and education evaluationreform and a guidance of the new curriculum reform. It can be saidthat setting up a history curriculum and academic evaluationmechanism which meets the quality education idea is an importantpart of the comprehensive promotion of quality education. It is also aproblem needs to be solved urgently in current high school teachingpractice. Under the current social situation, the college entranceexamination system still remains and cannot be changed in a short time.So, history education must proceed from reality and consider seriouslyabout how to promote the reform of middle school history examinationespecially the college entrance history examination in the new period.As a education powerful nation that walking in the forefront of theworld, the United States has a very characteristic university entranceexamination system. It’s AP exams is one of the university entranceexaminations for United States universities, especially the first-classuniversities. They are college-level exams that established for highschool students in American high schools. As a subject of the AP exams,AP world history exam has distinct characteristics and worth ourreference in many ways. In addition, we are more familiar with it’sknowledge system and content, which makes it easier for us to study it.This paper includes five parts which are introduction, general ideaof AP world course and exam, analysis of real exam questions, summaryof AP world history course and exam feature as well as thinking of it’sinspiration to us.The introduction section of this paper hackles the origins as well as current researches of this topic and describes the research methods ofthe paper. The second chapter primarily describes the development ofAP course as well as the thinking skills, course themes, historicalperiodization, and basic concepts. It focuses on the specific contents ofthe AP world history course structure and characteristics, and introduceon the AP world history exam papers’ structure, content, reading criteria.The third chapter analysis the AP world history real exam questions, anddid some description to their grading standards. The fourth chaptersummarizes the features of AP world history examination such as it’semphasis on students’ historical analysis ability and basic historyresearch method of acquisition and how to take into account both thebreadth and depth of a test. The fifth chapter returns back to Chinaactual situation and takes useful experiences from the exam. The paperexpects to provide some inspiration for Chinas high school historysubject examination especially college entrance examination in thisnew period.
