With the rapid development of economy and knowledge, there is agreater demand for people with creativity. Being good at thinking is thebasic ability of an intellectual with creativity. To be creative, one shouldbe capable of coming up with and solving questions others have notrealized. However, when it comes to current education in China,especially in senior high schools, teachers attach great importance toknowledge acquisition. As a result, students are able to answerquestions raised by teachers, but unable to discover questions. Theawareness of questioning needs raising. Evidence shows that allinventions and innovations arise from questions being discovered,which depends on the awareness of questioning. The key to developingstudents’ ability of creativity lies in cultivating their awareness ofquestioning, which traditional teaching methods lack. Based on thecurrent situation, I have carried out some research on how to raisestudents’ awareness of questioning in the process of biology teaching.Research aim: Affected by traditional teaching methods, studentsare lacking in the awareness of questioning. I have tried to develop thiswhen teaching biology (especially in the process of experimentteaching), hoping to improve students’ ability.Research targets: students in Class9, Class10in Grade2who studybiology as a optional subject in the Senior High School of JiangsuProvince.Research methods: literature research method, survey method,experiment research methodResearch contents: The research lists the reasons why students arelacking in the awareness of questioning: students’ unwillingness, inabilityand lack of courage; teachers not offering chances for the reason oftime allocation. Meanwhile, the research provides some possible strategies where students’ ability of questioning can be raised. Byarousing the awareness, creating the right atmosphere and teachinggood techniques, we teachers can make students have the courageand ability to raise and discover questions.Research results: The strategies tried in the research are practicaland effective. By applying these strategies to the teaching practice in5months, I have found that the number of students raising questions, thefrequency of their raising questions and the quality of questions raisedhave improved to different degrees.
