This questionnaire can also provides some supportsto make summary of ability differences and the constraints of differenttypes of colleague students in time management ability. The result willhelp to predict the negative results caused by the weakness of timemanagement ability as well as to provide references for educators tocome up with more definite measures to help colleague studentsimprove their time management ability. The study bears importantsignificance either theoretically or practically.Based on the study of former documents and investigation ofopen-ended questionnaire, the first edition of questionnaire is formed. The final edition gets its shape, and be constructed the theoreticalhypothesis by the item analysis and exploring factor analysis. Afterinvestigating646students with the formal questionnaire, the collegestudents’time management ability Questionnaire was examined bymany indexes. The results are stated as follows:(1)Based on the status of college students’ time managementability and some references to related researches, a questionnairewhich is used to gauge college students’ time management abilityand inclusive of better measurement indicators is formulated accordingto scientific statistic method.(2)There are overall39items in this self-made “College Students’time Management Ability Questionnaire”, which can be divided into two categories:“individual behavior for time-control” and “individualsense for time-control”. One category “individual behavior fortime-control” can be further subdivided into five branches:“fix theobject, make the plan and execute efficiently”,“reasonablemanagement of one’s time”,“well-ordered and well-regulated action”,“flexible management of your time”,“punctuality”; and the othercategory “individual sense for time-control” can also be subdividedinto three branches “a sense for time”,“self-discipline” and “self-consciousness”.(3) The colleague students maintains at a medium level in their timemanagement ability in the whole, they have a stronger sense ofindividual time-control, but still lags far behind in putting the action ofindividual time-control into practice.(4) The male student is higher than their female peers in managingtime in their work and studies and outperforms greatly the femalecolleague students in the category of individual behavior fortime-control:“define the goal, formulate the plan, execute with highefficiency” and its subcategory “punctuality”, both of them bear littledifferences in other aspects.(5) Non-local student is significantly higher than the shanghaistudents in the ability of “flexible management of time” for the categoryof individual behavior for time-control,and both of them bear littledifferences in other aspects.(6) Student who major in liberal art is significantly higher than thosewhose major is science and engineering in the ability of “define thegoal, formulate the plan, execute with high efficiency”, whereas thestudents who major in science and engineering outperforms greatlythose whose major is liberal arts, and both of them bears littledifferences in other aspects.(7) Student cadre is significantly higher than ordinary student in the ability of “flexible management of time” for the category of individualbehavior for time-control,and “a sense for time” for the category ofindividual sense for time-control.(8) The grade three student is significantly higher than other gradestudents in the category of individual behavior for time-control,while thegrade two student is significantly lower than other grade students in thecategory of individual sense for time-control.(9) There is no significant difference in the different types ofuniversity.
